Increase your influence beyond your team and become a leader people listen to.

This course helps you build the practical skills to influence managers, peers, customers, and stakeholders across an organisation.

This course is ideal for technical professionals who want to strengthen their leadership capability by learning how to manage up and across the organisation.

You will develop practical strategies to understand how senior leaders think, adapt their communication style to different stakeholders, align technical work with organisational priorities, build influential relationships, negotiate realistic commitments, and communicate complex ideas with clarity and impact.

Led by an engineer and former board-level executive, the course focuses on the real-world challenges technical leaders face every day. Through practical examples, discussion and proven frameworks, you will build the confidence and influence needed to achieve better outcomes for your teams, stakeholders, and organisation.

  • Network and map your allies to strengthen collaboration and improve organisational outcomes.
  • Negotiate priorities, manage expectations, and confidently say ‘no’ when commitments are unrealistic.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and simply to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Lead with greater influence across the organisation, even when you have little or no formal authority.

Whether you are leading a team, managing projects or acting as a senior technical specialist, this course will help you extend your influence well beyond your technical expertise. It is also useful if you are stepping into greater leadership responsibility and want to build the interpersonal and communication skills that are often learned through experience on the job.
