Six-part lecture series by Tom Buchanan
This lecture series will examine Adolf Hitler’s ‘Third Reich’ during the six years between the Nazi seizure of power and the start of the Second World War.
Beginning with the collapse of the democratic Weimar Republic, and drawing on the latest research, we will focus primarily on the political consolidation of the Nazi regime and the suppression of civil society. We will also study the regime’s attempts to transform Germany’s economy and society, and its impact on every aspect of German life.
This subject remains one of profound importance to all who wish to understand how democracies can give way to fascist dictatorship, and the ways in which such repressive regimes can establish their control over society.
Please note: this event will close to enrolments at 23:59 GMT on 17 January 2027.
