Language, culture and connection

Discover new perspectives through language and culture

Whether you're starting a new language from scratch, refreshing existing skills, or keen to understand how culture shapes communication, our short courses in Oxford and online offer an accessible way to develop skills and gain new perspectives.

All of our modern and classic language courses are formed of small groups, to maximise interaction and enhance fluency in a friendly, supportive environment.

Flexible online course

Our Inter-Culturally Speaking online course is offered in a flexible, asynchronous learning format. There are no live-time meetings, so you can participate at the time that suits you. No prior knowledge is required.

Online courses in classic languages

The following classical languages are all offered as short online courses, with scheduled live-time webinar classes. All courses run over 10 weeks.

In-person courses in modern languages

The following languages are all offered as in-person classes in Oxford. All courses run over 10 weeks.

For the first time, in spring 2026 we will also be running conversation courses in these languages, with the exception of Chinese (Mandarin) and Korean.

In-person cultural exploration classes

These five-week in-person courses offer language learning through the exploration of cultural contexts:
