Andrew studied Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition at Oxford before finding work as an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teacher at King’s College London and then the London School of Economics. Having returned to Oxford, he now works in the Centre for Academic Communication in English (CACE), a teaching unit that sits within Oxford Lifelong Learning.
Much of his work involves teaching academic writing, discourse analysis and writing with AI. However, he is particularly interested in how speakers of English as an additional language (EAL) adapt to Oxford’s academic environment, particularly in the area of spoken academic communication. AI has provided many novel opportunities for EAL students to improve their general and academic speaking, and he dedicates himself to exploring, identifying, and facilitating these opportunities.
