Dr Suman Chowdhury FGS FRAS, gained his doctorate in Geophysics and Tectonics from the University of Oxford. He possesses a broad range of expertise in the earth and space sciences, with field experience including the geophysical survey of the Chicxulub asteroid impact crater. He has lived and worked globally, in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America and served on the British Antarctic Place Names Committee.
Dr Chowdhury is a Fellow of the Geological Society and the Royal Astronomical Society, and a member of the International Astronomical Union.

Departmental Lecturer in Lifelong Learning (Physical Sciences)
Dr Chowdhury has taught all age groups across a wide range of Oxford Lifelong Learning formats.
He has created and teaches FHEQ Level 4 (first year undergraduate level) courses in Astronomy, Planetary Sciences, Earth History and Energy Transition.
He is presently the Course Director for the annual Astronomy Weekend, Oxford Lifelong Learning’s largest STEM event.
