Event Overview

Explore the voices, cultures and experiences behind art’s global tapestry.

How can we look at art differently – and what can works of art reveal about the people, cultures and histories that shaped them? Join us for a 45-minute online webinar exploring Oxford’s part-time Certificate in the History of Art.

Meet the Course Director Dr Sean Willcock and discover how the programme explores art from c500 CE to the present in its global contexts. Find out how you’ll develop the skills to view, describe and interpret works of art, while exploring themes including display, value, collections, provenance and the institutions that shape our understanding of art.

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask your questions live, whether you’d like to know more about the course content, the combination of online and in-person teaching, balancing study with other commitments, or what it’s like to study part-time at Oxford.

During this 45-minute session, Course Director Dr Sean Willcock will introduce the Certificate in the History of Art and give you insight into studying the subject at Oxford.

You’ll find out:

  • who the course is designed for
  • what you’ll study and how the programme is taught
  • how online and in-person teaching work together
  • what to expect from assessment
  • what it’s like to study at Oxford as a part-time student

The session will finish with a live Q&A, giving you the chance to put your questions directly to the Course Director.

Dr Sean Willcock

Sean Willcock is a Lecturer in the History of Art at Oxford Lifelong Learning and a Fellow of Kellogg College. He was previously a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at Birkbeck, University of London, and has lectured at Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong, Queen Mary, University of London, the University of York, and Yale University’s London programme.

This free information session will take place online via Zoom.
