Event Overview

Learn how to uncover the stories, challenge the evidence – and think like a historian.

Take your study of history further with advanced training in local history. Join us for a 45-minute online webinar exploring Oxford’s part-time Advanced Diploma in Local History.

Meet the Course Director Dr Ismini Pells and discover how the programme helps you gain specialist skills to investigate local, regional and social history in-depth. Find out how the methods you learn can be applied anywhere, from your own street to a place you have always been curious about.

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask your questions live, whether you’d like to know more about the course content, the online teaching experience, balancing study with other commitments, or what it’s like to study part-time at Oxford.

During this 45-minute session, Course Director Dr Ismini Pells will introduce the Advanced Diploma in Local History and give you insight into studying the subject at Oxford.

You’ll find out:

  • who the course is designed for
  • what you’ll study and how the programme is taught
  • what the online teaching experience is like
  • what to expect from assessments
  • what it’s like to study at Oxford as a part-time student

The session will finish with a live Q&A, giving you the chance to put your questions directly to the Course Director.
