From the 1970s onwards key architects including Norman Foster and Richard Rogers established the HiTech style – a product of close working with British structural engineers. BBC Television's 2014 series The Brits Who Built The Modern World was followed by an exhibition by the Royal Institute of British Architects. These highlighted the international impact of this group of British architects, including others such as Nicholas Grimshaw and Terry Farrell, who were developing both the HiTech and Postmodern styles. More recently David Chipperfield has been acclaimed for his work on museums in Berlin. From the Pompidou Centre in Paris to Beijing's National Airport Terminal and the reopening of the Reichstag in Berlin, we will evaluate the impact of the UK's architectural outreach in a period which has included the remarkable work of Zaha Hadid's practice and that of other UK based architects.
