Oxford Lifelong Learning provides a concessionary fee scheme on selected short courses for those with low incomes or who are care-leavers, to help make learning more accessible. If you meet certain eligibility criteria, you may be able to benefit from reduced course costs. This page explains who qualifies, the types of concessions available, and how to apply, so you can take advantage of flexible, high-quality study opportunities at a lower cost.
A set amount of funding is allocated for fee concessions each term, applicable to courses delivered in that term. Applications for fee concessions are considered on a first-come, first-served basis and will be made so long as the criteria are met and there remains available funding. As such, awards are strictly limited to a maximum of one fee concession per person, per academic year.

Departmental Concessionary Fee Scheme
A concession (a reduction of 50% of tuition fees) may be granted if all the eligibility criteria are demonstrably met.
Eligible courses
- All courses within our Weekly Classes, Events, Short Online Courses (Live), and the Lecture Series.
- Short Online Courses (Flexible), except those that are listed as being for ‘Professional development’.

Eligible students
Provide documentary evidence to demonstrate that you meet at least one of the following criteria:
- You are in receipt of a UK state benefit (such as Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Income-based Job Seekers’ Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, a reduction under the Council Tax Scheme, Carer’s Allowance).
or
- Your sole source of income is a DWP State Retirement Pension and Pension Credit.
or
- You are or will be a care-leaver in the UK during the same academic year that the course is taking place.
How to apply

Complete and send both forms, along with a copy of your documentary evidence of status or entitlements, to the appropriate course office (listed on the Concessionary Fee Application Form). You should hear the outcome shortly afterwards.
