Writing Critically

Academic writers from all disciplines must represent their own thoughts and views in their writing, but these thoughts and views must also be based on published work in your field. A common complaint from tutors regarding less-experienced student writers is that their work is "too descriptive". Such writing merely describes the work of others and fails to treat the material critically.  

Among other actions, writing criticality involves categorising, analysing and evaluating information or interpretations.  Let's consider these in detail:
