Oxford Lifelong Learning is delighted to share the news that one of our MSc in Applied Landscape Archaeology students has won a prestigious national award. Christo Leventis, who recently completed the MSc, was awarded the Medieval Settlement Research Group John Hurst Prize for a presentation based on his dissertation. Christo’s innovative research focused on a rigorous statistical analysis of factors influencing the layout of medieval settlements in the Norfolk Breckland.

Christo says: ‘The Applied Landscape Archaeology Masters gives a unique mixture of academic and practical landscape teaching, including in digital methods. The course allowed me to combine my interests in statistical analysis and medieval archaeology to examine long-standing questions about the structure of the historic countryside. I believe that the methodology has potential in a wider study, and hopefully the prize award shows that the academic community agrees!’

Congratulations Christo and good luck with your future research!
