The world of marketing and communications is at the forefront of technological development. Through utilising ever-more sophisticated platforms, replacement of human labour and human-originated communication is accelerating. Yet what lies at the heart of effective marketing is human engagement, relationship building, and connection.
AI solutions and automation seem to offer the ultimate combination of ‘being more human’, creating new opportunities for the broadcaster of messages and the consumer, but only when constructed on a proper foundation.
Technology is evolving at an increasingly rapid pace, humans are not. There are real risks of de-skilling future generations, polarising communities through hyper-personalisation, and potentially undermining the very essence of human connection.
Whilst AI’s development may be unsettling to many, there are ways for the individual to interpret this dynamic landscape, exploiting opportunities and generating positive outcomes.
This course will take you on an exploration of how technologies have already changed us, and which future impacts can be endured, mitigated, or embraced. Through daily interactive sessions, you will feel empowered to pause, reflect, and reframe technological change from the communications perspective. You will leave with a greater confidence of how to integrate AI into your work, feeling enabled to ask the necessary questions, and adapt more effectively.
This course is part of the Inspiring Oxford summer school programme, held at Brasenose College.
